Rubén Amoretti has a wide and versatile bass voice with a bright and beautiful timbre. The combination of his style of singing and musicality, together with his stage presence and theatrical qualities, allows him to embody with a guarantee of success a great variety of characters.
Born in Burgos, he moved to Switzerland, where he studied with the tenor Nicolai Gedda at the Conservatory of Geneva. Later he perfected his technique with Carlos Montané at the University of Indiana, United States, and made his debut at I Pagliacci (Ruggero Leoncavallo).
Since then, Rubén Amoretti has sung in some of the most important theaters and auditoriums in Europe and America, such as the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, Zurich Opernhaus, Lausanne Opera, FeniceTheater in Venice, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Bellas Artes of Mexico City, Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, Teatro de la Zarzuela and Lucerne Opera, among others.
He has worked with conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Anton Guadagno, Pinchas Steinberg, Nello Santi, Bruno Bartoletti, Zubin Mehta, Alberto Zedda, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Ramón Tebar, Karel Mark Chichon, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Miquel Ortega, Óliver Díaz or Giuseppe Sabbatini, among others.
His repertoire includes some of the main roles written for bass, such as Mefistofeles (Faust), Don Giovanni and Leporello (Don Giovanni), Mustafa (L`Italiana in Algeri), Filippo II (Don Carlo), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Dulcamara (l Elisir d amore), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Ferrando (Il Trovatore), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Mephisto (The Damnation of Faust), Colline (The Boheme), Scarpia (Tosca), Capulet (Romeo et Juliette), Balthazar (The Favorite), etc.
He has performed several Spanish zarzuelas and operas, being a frequent singer in the seasons of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, with titles such as El Gato Montés (Father Antón), Marina (Pascual) , Black the Clown (White), Juan José (Cano), La Villana (David and Rey),
His repertoire includes works such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Verdi’s Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Mozart’s Requiem or Puccini’s Glory Mass.
In the last seasons his Escamillo in Naples with Zubin Mehta, his presentation in the Metropolitan of New York with L Italiana in Algeri (Mustafá) the Suntory Hall in Tokyo in September 2017 with La Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini.
In 2019 he has performed Filippo II (Don Carlo) at “Opera de Las Palmas” La damnation de Faust in Nice,El gato Montés in Los Angeles opposite Placido Domingo.Zaccaria /Nabucco in Parma,(Lindorff/ Coppelius/Miracle/Dapertutto) Les Contes d’Hoffmann at Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
In 2020 he has sung Zaccaria(Nabucco) at Teatro Regio di Torino conducted by Renato Renzetti,La tempranica /La vida breve at Teatro de la Zarzuela and Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo ,La tabernera del puerto at Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid and Teatro Calderón in Valladolid, Farinelli (Doctor) at Teatro de la Zarzuela.
