
Born in South Korea and currently based in Italy, baritone Youngjun Park rose to prominence in 2023 with
his acclaimed portrayal of Amonasro in Aida at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, conducted by
Massimiliano Stefanelli in the iconic staging by Franco Zeffirelli. That same year, he sang Enrico Ashton in
Lucia di Lammermoor at the Ópera de Las Palmas alongside Xabier Anduaga and Jessica Pratt, and took
part in the international promotional tour for the 100th Arena di Verona Opera Festival, performing in
Bucharest, Dubai, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and Seoul.
At the Arena di Verona Opera Festival 2023, he returned to the role of Amonasro, sharing the stage with
Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov and Anna Pirozzi under the batons of Marco Armiliato and Daniel Oren.In early 2024, he received standing ovations for his powerful performance as Scarpia in Tosca at the
Teatro Mario del Monaco in Treviso. He subsequently triumphed in the title role of Nabucco at the Teatro
Verdi in Trieste, again under Daniel Oren, and appeared as the Duke of Nottingham in Roberto Devereux.
Later in 2024, he performed Amonasro in two productions of Aida at the Arena di Verona—one conducted
by Marco Armiliato and staged by Stefano Poda, and the other in the historic 1913 production—and
appeared as soloist in Carmina Burana at the same festival. He also appeared at the Metropolitan Opera
in New York as cover for Scarpia in Tosca during the autumn season, and performed in gala concerts in
Doha and Abu Dhabi with the Arena di Verona.
In 2025, Park took on major engagements across Europe and Latin America. His appearances included
Gellner in La Wally at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, performances at the Teatro Colón in Buenos
Aires, and appearances at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste as Enrico Ashton in Lucia di Lammermoor and in
Rigoletto, under the baton of Daniel Oren. At the Arena di Verona, he performed Amonasro in Aida, the
title role in Nabucco, and appeared as soloist in Carmina Burana. In October he served as cover for the
title role of Rigoletto at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and later performed Rigoletto at the Aalto-Theater
Essen.
In 2026, he performed Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste alongside Anna Pirozzi,
Yusif Eyvazov and Daniela Barcellona, conducted by Jordi Bernàcer. Upcoming engagements include
Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, as well as Ping in Turandot at the
Metropolitan Opera in New York. He will also return to the Arena di Verona in La Traviata (Giorgio
Germont), Nabucco (title role), and Aida (Amonasro) in productions by Franco Zeffirelli and Stefano Poda.
In October 2026, he will again appear as cover for Scarpia in Tosca at the Metropolitan Opera, and in
December 2026 he will perform Tonio in Pagliacci at the Teatro Mario del Monaco in Treviso.
Previous career highlights include his debut in the title role of Rigoletto at the Teatro Regio di Parma, as
well as appearances in Adriana Lecouvreur, Cavalleria rusticana, Roberto Devereux and Manon Lescaut.
In 2022, Park gained international recognition by winning Third Prize and the Rolex Audience Prize at
Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition, in addition to first prizes in 21 international vocal competitions
