South Korean baritone Junhyeok Felix Park is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most compelling voices of his generation. His 2026 season began to significant acclaim with his portrayal of Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, opposite Xabier Anduaga, a performance that further consolidated his growing international presence.
Born in 1997, Park began his musical studies in South Korea at Kyung Hee University. Seeking to deepen his artistry in the birthplace of opera, he subsequently moved to Italy to continue his studies at the Conservatorio di Como. His artistic development has also been enriched through masterclasses with renowned artists including Eleonora Buratto, Maria Grazia Schiavo, and Andrea Concetti, and he currently works under the guidance of Adriana Molina.
A decisive turning point in Park’s career came in 2024, when he was named Winner and Audience Prize recipient at the 75th AsLiCo Competition. His victory was particularly significant, as he became the first South Korean singer ever to win this prestigious competition, marking an important step in the development of his European career.
Park continued his remarkable success in international competitions at the 63rd Tenor Viñas Competition in 2026, where he received Fourth Prize, the Audience Prize, the Verdi Prize, and the Teatro Real Special Prize. His affinity for the Verdian repertoire was further recognized with Third Prize at the 61st Voci Verdiane International Competition, as well as First Prizes at the Nicolai Ghiaurov, Giuditta Pasta, and Salvatore Licitra competitions.
His recent operatic highlights include the title role in Rigoletto at Astana Opera and Teatro Chiabrera in Savona; Ford in Falstaff at the Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto and on the Opera Domani tour; and Marcello in La bohème during the Opera Lombardia season. In June 2026, he appeared as Ping in Turandot with the Ópera de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
On the concert stage, Park has appeared as a soloist at the Teatro Real in Madrid and was presented as a “Rising Star” at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. He was also invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to perform at the Théâtre National Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco.
Looking ahead, his 2026/27 season features several important debuts, including Lescaut in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and Paolo Albiani in Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara.
Further confirming his emergence on the international opera scene, Junhyeok Felix Park has been selected to participate in Operalia 2026, to be held in Shanghai, marking another significant milestone in his rapidly developing career.
